Botanic Gardens Singapore sketch

Sketched a 5" X 7" gouache on Saunders 300gsm paper from a photo I took in Botanic Gardens Singapore earlier this year. I was trying to capture the backlight from the setting Sun.

Borocay sketches, gouache.

Here are some sketches I did last week, when we were in Borocay, Philippines for school holidays. This is the first time where I managed to squeeze in some comfort sketching time for myself when kids n hubby were busy playing. It's not always easy to sit and sketch in a new place where we do have a lot of things to see and enjoy, especially with kids. All these sketches took around an hour and I still fondly remember the gusty wind (my first sketch has the place's white sand caught on the paint), clear water and how I rushed to capture the sunset hues.  Hope to record new places in paint in future trips too.

Punggol Park

My client who purchased the " Unconventional upcycled garden" sketch, also commissioned me to do a larger oil painting of her favorite view at Punggol Park. We had a couple of visits to the park and did a pencil study and a Gouache sketch. Later made some modifications to match the light and my client's preferences. Waiting to start with the oil study :)

Panorama sketch

View from the rooftop pool of Village Hotel in Changi during our stay-cation, astounding to see the ships sailing and the planes continuously descending towards the airport. Had just half an hour, so I chose to sketch on a small size (8" X 2.5")

St. John's Island, Sg

Sengkang west Zone D RC had arranged for a half-day leisure outing to St. John's Island yesterday. Wonderfully organised by the team with games, competitions, gifts, lucky draw and snacks. I managed to sketch the activities while kids and hubby were enjoying the games :)
Still experimenting with tools......Sketching with pen/pencil minimises my sketching gear weight and eases the process especially on family outings.

Artist Ramesh Jhawar in my hometown

Met the wonderful and humble watercolour artist Ramesh Jhawar and his lovely family at my hometown. His watercolour works are a treat to look in person. Strong composition, convincing light and of course the drama with colours!!! Inspired :)

View from my Kitchen window. I've done the same view before in charcoal, details in the link below:
http://myartsandcreatives.blogspot.sg/2015/05/urban-sketchers-singapore-volume-2.html

Reason for sketching this again in Gouache is, the construction materials have arrived in the nearby vacant land and I'm pretty sure this view will be gone forever. I have planned to sketch the progress in construction stages from the same view, it may take 2-3 years, but I'll try to document the slow changes as seen through my window. Let's see how it goes!!
