Kids Art @myartsandcreatives 2015 - Drawing Dinos

Started our drawing lessons with Dinosaur subjects - Brachiosaurus and Stegosaurus.......also learning how to add depth and volume with charcoal shading........then came the interesting texturing lesson on getting realistic skin textures on the T-Rex.....very well received!!

Beautiful backgarden 2

Houses near Gerald Drive have wonderful backgardens facing the little canal that extends from the Sengkang waterway, these are just on the opposite side of kampong Buangkok.....completed today (2 sessions of 1 hour each)

Sengkang Park and Mushroom Cafe

We frequent Sengkang Riverside Park and Mushroom Cafe on Sunday afternoons and went last Sunday too. After lunch, kids and hubby headed to fly kites and I hopped from tree to tree to find a good shady spot for sketching. It was a nice windy day and my pigments were drying up fast. Spent about 1 1/2 hours sketching and this was the result,

 I find Gouache becomes pale if  I'm not very careful about the values, because it tends to lighten a bit after drying and a little white will kill the intensity of colours a lot (unlike oils where pigments retain considerable intensity after adding white). Did some corrections later at home.

Compass Point Mall, Sengkang - Before renovation

"Compass Point" mall in Sengkang is undergoing renovation currently and temporarily closed for about 1 year. People here miss the Public Library, Supermarket and other eateries. This is how it looks now, I always felt the architecture somehow resembles a cruise ship from the design of  windows and layers. Realised how huge the mall is when I tried to sketch it from side view, however settled for this one, since other views are blocked by trees. Took 3 sessions of 1 hour each. Looking forward for the new look, I'll sketch this again after the re-open.
