Kampong Buangkok 2

Kampong Buangkok 2, 16" X 20", Acrylic on canvas
                                                    SOLD

This painting shows a typical scene of kampong(meaning "village" in Malay) in Buangkok. This is the last surviving kampong in mainland Singapore, situated besides the Sungei Punggol. The kampong houses are a surprise amidst the urban high rise buidings. Wooden houses with metal roofs, rain puddles in the paths, overhead power lines, fences and many others are some rare sights which can only be seen in the kampong.

Riverbank Tree

Riverbank Tree, 12" X 16", Acrylic on canvas
                                                 SOLD

The Sengkang West Riverbanks have a dense foliage, a shelter for many birds. There are different types of trees and plants to study along the stretch of  the riverbanks, most of the trees have been there naturally in their habitat for many years. This painting is of a tree near the coast as seen closely from the Floating Wetland.

Morning Breeze

Morning Breeze, 12" X 16", Acrylic on canvas
SOLD

The Sengkang West Riverside jogging track has attracted many people who want to get a green, fresh look of vegetation amidst urban infrastructures. This painting is the track in morning light, bathed in a cool breeze and sunlight is just getting through the trees, and the leaves have started to bid adieu for the dew sitting on them!

New Address?

New Address?, 12" X 16", Acrylic on canvas
                                                 SOLD

This is a view of the Sengkang West Riverside in Singapore from the Floating Wetland. Previously the trees in the riverbanks served as home for white cranes and people came with their children to see the cranes coming in flocks and slowly filling up the trees like white sparkles, that was gorgeous! But recently, the birds were not seen , guess they shifted to some other shelter. This painting is from an old reference, I wish I could see the birds soon!!

If you rest, you rust

If you rest , you rust, 16" X 20", Acrylic on canvas
Donated for ASSISI HOSPICE Charity Auction

This elderly man was seen on a sunny day along the Sengkang West (Sungei Punggol) riverside, sitting in a shade under the bridge. Not caring about anyone passing by, he was keen recycling the used cans and tins. I wanted to paint him  behind the sky high buildings, a scene of controversy between sophistication and hardwork. He is highly inspiring, representing our untiring elderly generation who developed Singapore into a flourishing nation and how they are still busy making every second of them meaningful.

A Serene Heritage Trail

A Serene Heritage Trail, 16" X 20", Acrylic on canvas
SOLD

This is a painting of Bukit Timah Railway Station, that recently became an important heritage trail of Singapore.
Situated in a serene atmosphere, the Bukit Timah Railway Station is an endearing local landmark and a key building of Singapore’s railway history. The Bukit Timah Railway Station was opened as a part of the Singapore-Kranji Railway. Owned by the Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB), these railway tracks and train stations were properties of the Malaysian Government until June 30, 2011. Going there after the train service ceased, everyone including me had a nostalgic feel and people were discussing about changing tracks, signalling, exchange of keys they haven’t experienced before. This must be the reason why I wanted to paint this place. Its conservation serves as a physical reminder of Singapore’s role as a transport hub in the region.

Painting Sunset at Tanah Lot, Bali

Hi,
It has been a long time since I posted any painting because I was away for vacation to Bali, Indonesia. The trip was of course enjoyable and i had a different learning experience about arts, particularly paintings. To my surprise I could see there a whole village doing paintings that too in different genres like landscapes, abstract, traditional balinese art and the interesting thing is that the paintings all show their culture and tradition. These people sell their art at their own traditional houses changed into art galleries, there are other art forms like wood carving, stone statues, silversmith, glass art etc and each village is associated with a particular art................. no wonder each and everything there reflects their artistic excellence!

Tanah Lot Sunset, Bali, 18" X  24", 18" X 14", Acrylic on Canvas
SOLD

This painting is about the famous sunset view of  a temple at Tanah Lot in Bali. The view was indeed spectacular, but I think I have captured to some extent. Nothing can match nature's glorious colors!

The flaws in any painting can be seen only with other fresh pair of eyes. Your critics and comments about the painting are most welcome!!
