Value and color studies

Happy to receive  the enthusiastic comments and enquiries for my paintings posted in "Wall Of Art" at Senkang Public Library. I'm still more energised to work on more paintings to give out my best. I'm striving to work deep about color combinations, mood and composition in my paintings and i can see the vast improvement myself.

Here's the update of my gallery with some more works!
Thankyou again, Happy painting!

Here is a step by step demonstration of a landscape acrylic painting:

First, I blocked in the larger masses.

The next step was to paint the mountains in the background, the value scale is high to give depth and better aerial perspective.

In the next steps, I made the middleground and foreground trees, the size should vary accordingly.

In this step, I almost finished, my aim is to move the viewer's eye from the tree in the foreground towards the small lighthouse along the curved path of trees and landmass, thus the composition breaks down the horizontal movement of the eye and follows a curved path.

Still I thought the viewer would get out of the picture frame just from the focal point (lighthouse). I added the little boat so that eye movement will be from lighthouse to the boat and again to the trees, I want the viewer's eye to wander in the painting for a while before getting out!
So this is my finished painting!!

The analogous color scheme well suited this pleasant cool painting, i didn't use any of their complements, still it retains it's mood.
